Over 90% of people who suffer with Fibromyalgia are female, it follows that many of them are cared for by male partners and husbands, who, until now had little support.
Maurice Clarke husband of his sufferer wife Mary, living in Rugby, has launched a separate support organisation specifically for men who care for women suffering from Fibromyalgia.
The first meeting was held in Rugby in August and the idea has been welcomed by carers and sufferers alike. It is believed the group called "FibroLads Care" is the first of it's type and members hope the idea will be copied by other support groups nationally.
"I hope we can hold monthly meetings, in a pub, over a drink. Just chatting and sharing experiences, concerns and knowledge seems to work wonders and is much needed to release a lot of tension and stress carers face."
There is a web page on the subject here. Maurice S Clarke is secretary of Rugby Fibromyalgia Support Group and founder of FibroLads Care. For more details contact him via the fibrolads website
